Tolmomyias sulphurescens (Spix, 1825)
Summary:
Likely due to its large geographical distribution, the basic breeding biology of Tolmomyias sulphurescens is fairly well studied when compared to many species. Multiple descriptions of nests, eggs, and nesting habitat are available.
Nest description:
The nests of Tolmomyias sulphurescens are hanging pouches entered through a long, spout-like, downward-opening entrance tube which often opens well below the nesting chamber. They appear to be most often composed primarily of dark materials such as flexible fibers, rootlets, and fungal rhizomorphs.
