Slate-throated Gnatcatcher nest building
Description:
Female about an hour after starting building a nest. The nest is in a fork on the outer part of the branch. Both parents were actively building the nest during the three hours we were in the canopy tower. It is about 12 m above ground. The picked small pieces of moss and lichens that were carefully selected and picked from dead branches. They also collected spiderweb. While building they tried out the nest by sitting down and move to make it comfortable. When we left after about three hours, they had made about half a cup. 7-10 am, 28-june 2013
